Renamed the Ball Corporation in 1969, it acquired Jeffco Manufacturing Company, a maker of recyclable aluminum beverage cans, and became the largest producer of recyclable beverage cans in the world.
As of 1992 Heekin was deemed to be the largest regional manufacturer of metal food containers in the United States, [4] with 11 manufacturing plants, located in Arkansas, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, West Virginia, and Wisconsin. In that year, the company agreed to be acquired by Ball Corporation for an exchange of stock.
The Ball brothers' firm became a global manufacturer of plastic and metal food and beverage containers as well as a manufacturer of equipment and supplier of services to the aerospace industry.
