Eagle Crest is located 6 miles (10 km) west of Redmond on west side of the Deschutes River.The Eagle Crest property includes the lower slope of Cline Butte on the eastern side, extending approximately one and a half miles to the Deschutes River, and one and a half miles north to south with Oregon Highway 126 as the northern boundary.

In 1996, Eagle Crest began selling residential lots west of the Cline Falls Highway, between the highway and the eastern base of the Cline Buttes.

Eagle Crest Resort is 9 miles (14 km) to the northeast. According to the U.S. Census Bureau, Tumalo has an area of 1.7 square miles (4.4 km 2), all of it land. [3] The town lies along the Deschutes River. Tumalo Creek joins the Deschutes 3 miles (5 km) south of the town.
Prior to European Colonialism, this area was populated by groups of people from what is now known as the Confederated Tribes of Warm Springs. [9]In 1910, [6] Hillsboro politician Harry V. Gates [10] bought the Crooked River Ranch property from local homesteaders and named it "Gates Ranch". [6]
