Delft is a popular tourist destination in the Netherlands, famous for its historical connections with the reigning House of Orange-Nassau, for its blue pottery, for being home to the painter Jan Vermeer, and for hosting Delft University of Technology (TU Delft). Delft is a township on the outskirts of Cape Town, South Africa. It is situated next to the Cape Town International Airport , Belhar , Blue Downs , Ikwezi Park, Mandalay, Luzuko, Phillipi East, and Site C, Khayelitsha .
One of South Holland's historical towns is Delft, a stronghold of tourism and of (mainly technical) science. The Koornbrug (Grain Bridge) in Leiden, also a historical university city in South Holland. Scheveningen is the Netherlands' most popular seaside resorts.

In 1812, the "gemeente" of Vrijenban became part of Delft. Later it again gained some self-rule. The municipality was established in 1817. In 1833, the municipality of Biesland was merged into Vrijenban. [1] In 1855 Abtsregt was also merged into Vrijenban. In 1921, it became part of Delft. [2]
