Metamorphoses is a play by the American playwright and director Mary Zimmerman, adapted from the classic Ovid poem Metamorphoses. The play premiered in 1996 as Six Myths at Northwestern University and later the Lookingglass Theatre Company in Chicago.

Mary Zimmerman (born August 23, 1960) is an American theatre and opera director and playwright from Nebraska.She is an ensemble member of the Lookingglass Theatre Company, the Manilow Resident Director at the Goodman Theatre in Chicago, Illinois, and also serves as the Jaharis Family Foundation Professor of Performance Studies at Northwestern University.
She made her Broadway debut when Metamorphoses opened at Circle in the Square Theatre (2002). [9] [10] In 2004, Bhimani became an understudy for Ayesha Dharker and Madhur Jaffrey's characters in Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Bombay Dreams. During the play's The Broadway Theatre production Dharker left the play and Bhimani took over her role.
