Moorside Mills was a textile factory built by John Moore in 1875 for worsted spinning which grew into a medium-sized factory employing around 100 people. [1] The mill which was originally steam powered was converted to electricity in the early 20th century. [2]

It is situated about a mile outside the city centre [2] on Manningham Lane, the main road between Bradford and Shipley.It is one of the city's largest parks and was purchased by the City of Bradford for half its commercial value from Samuel Cunliffe Lister, who built Lister's Mill.
The frieze carries the Bradford city motto: Labor omnia vincit (Hard work conquers all), reflecting the ethos of an industrial city, and the work ethic of the Evangelical movement represented by many local chapels. The figures on the frieze represent the wool trade between Bradford and the world, besides architecture and the arts. [11]
It is situated on a sloping site amongst other Bradford landmarks – the National Media Museum, aforementioned Bradford Odeon, the former Windsor Baths building and Bradford City Park. The entrance to the building is on the corner on the other side of the building to the dome and has a distinctive iron and glass canopy. [2]
