The Pinzgauer is a family of high-mobility all-terrain 4WD (4×4) and 6WD (6×6) military utility vehicles. The vehicle was originally developed in the late 1960s and manufactured by Steyr-Daimler-Puch [2] [3] of Graz, Austria, and was named after the Pinzgauer, an Austrian breed of cattle.
The F series was a 6-cylinder petrol motor, B series a 4-cylinder diesel, and H series a 6-cylinder diesel. The diesel trucks were never sold to the general public in the United States, though some found their way in as mine trucks. Some engines are similar within their series; for example, the F and 2F engines share many of the same parts.
In 1981, Bedford introduced turbocharging to the "Red Series" 3.6-litre and 5.4-litre diesel engines, now producing 72 bhp and 102 bhp respectively. [5] TKs were assembled for many years by General Motors New Zealand (GMNZ) at its Petone truck plant. The model was very popular and competed with the like of the also locally assembled Ford D series.

The founder of R A Lister and Company was Robert Ashton Lister, who was born in 1845. [1] He led the exhibit of the family's products to the Paris Exhibition of 1867, [2] but on return fell out with his father, [citation needed] and in the same year founded R.A.Lister and Company [3] in the former Howard's Lower Mill, Water Street in Dursley to manufacture agricultural machinery.
The engine was first used in the Austin K30 light truck and Austin K2/Y military ambulance 1939. After the war, it continued to power the later Austin Loadstar 1-ton truck and the 4x4 variant K9. Post war, it went on to power a number of cars such as the Austin Sheerline and Princess luxury vehicles, Jensen Interceptor and Jensen 541.
