The Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts is a 1,731-seat theatre located in the city's theatre district at 350 Madison Street in Downtown Detroit, Michigan.It was built in 1928 as the Wilson Theatre, designated a Michigan State Historic Site in 1976, [2] and was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.
To insure the project would make money, a five-story office building was built around the theater. This was the start of a Detroit tradition of building movie theaters as part of an office block development. The Madison was a success and Kunsky and Crane built ever larger and more lavish theaters. The Capitol Theater opened in 1922.
