The high school was founded in 1986 in rented space at Christ Community Church, with 23 9th- and 10th-grade students and seven faculty members. It moved to the El Camino Baptist Church campus on East Speedway Boulevard in 1991 as its enrollment approached 100.
CCCS' own high school program remained closed for the next 5 years. [8] In 2015, the school formally separated from the Assembly of God church into its own nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization and formed its own school board. In 2024, NVCA opened a 13,000-square-foot (1,200 m 2) high school building on the same campus. The building holds a unique dual purpose black box theater and lecture hall that serves as two classrooms. Nate Kretzmann served as the Executive Director from 2010 to 2018 and was replaced by Head of School Chris Schoenleb.
