Blue Lights is a Northern Irish police procedural television drama series set in current days and based at the fictional Blackthorn police station in Belfast, Northern Ireland. Created and written by Declan Lawn and Adam Patterson, the series was filmed in Belfast and directed by Gilles Bannier. It began broadcasting on BBC One on 27 March 2023.
Dramas involving police procedural work, and private detectives, secret agents, and the justice system have been a mainstay of broadcast television since the early days of broadcasting. Shows that are not dramatic programming are indicated (e.g. reality television , comedy or comedy drama ).
Braniff had his first screen role playing rookie cop Tommy Foster in BBC police drama Blue Lights. [5] For the role, he researched "body language of how police handle themselves in certain scenarios". [6] He has described his attempts on the show "the human side" of the police "with their good bits and bad bits”. [7]
