Leiden University (abbreviated as LEI; [8] [9] Dutch: Universiteit Leiden) is a public research university in Leiden, Netherlands. It was founded as a Protestant university in 1575 [ 10 ] by William, Prince of Orange as the first university in the Netherlands.
In 2015 Delft University of Technology opened a branch at Campus The Hague, in the Wijnhaven Building, offering a master's degree in Engineering and Policy Analysis. [ 3 ] In 2016, Leiden University Medical Center founded an additional branch at Campus The Hague, with research, teaching and a training program for GPs .

The International Institute for Asian Studies was, and still is, hosted by Leiden University, which provides office space as well as administrative and IT services. From 1997 to 2012, IIAS also had a branch office in Amsterdam, facilitated by the University of Amsterdam. [2] IIAS receives its core funding from the Ministry of Education.
