Twin Groves Wind Farm is a wind farm in the U.S. state of Illinois, near the villages of Arrowsmith, Saybrook, and Ellsworth in McLean County. It consists of 240 operating wind turbines. [1] Each wind turbine stands 280 ft (80 m) tall and has three 120-foot-long (39 m) blades. The wind farm was constructed from 2007 to February 2008.
The Bishop Hill Wind Farms are three Illinois wind farms containing a total of 201 turbines in Henry County. Developed in 2012 through 2018, as a complex the three wind farms have a nameplate capacity of 424.0 megawatts of electricity. [1] [2] [3]
Mendota Hills Wind Farm in northern Illinois. Wind power in Illinois provided nearly 10% of the state's generated electrical power in 2020 powering 1,231,900 homes. [1] At the end of 2020, Illinois had 6,300 megawatts (MW) of wind power installed, ranking fifth among states for installed wind turbine capacity. [2]
Typically the wind data sets are collected directly from a data logger, located at a meteorological monitoring site, and are imported into a database. Once the data set is in the database it can be analyzed and validated using tools built into the system or it can be exported for use in external wind data analysis software, wind flow modeling ...
US government data is distributed under a CC0 public domain dedication, whereas other contributors are free to select an open data license of their choice. Users can rate data using a five-star system, based on accessibility, adaptability, usefulness, and general quality. [ 46 ]
In addition to the megawatt wind farms, community scale single wind turbines of from 250 kW to 750 kW are typically 50 meters high, and residential or farm wind turbines are typically 15–40 m (49–131 ft) high. To address these markets, maps are available showing wind potential at 30 m (98 ft) [7] and 50 m (160 ft). [8]
The Wind Energy Metadata Clearinghouse included thousands of metadata records related to wind energy. These metadata records provide users with easy access to data and information from a variety of resources, such as peer-reviewed journal articles, government agency reports, private industry reports, GIS services, datasets, and news articles.
The wind farm is owned and operated by EDP Renewables North America (EDPR NA), formerly Horizon Wind Energy. [2] The wind turbines that constitute the farm are centered on the town of Emden on both sides of Interstate 155. The wind farm, constructed in 2008–2009 at a cost of $200.0 million, was dedicated on July 21, 2009. [3] [4]
