In 2004 the Forensic Science Society became a professional body, and the voice for forensic practitioners, both in the UK and abroad. As of receiving a Royal Charter in October 2013, [1] sealed on 17 of January 2014, [2] the Forensic Science Society was renamed the Chartered Society of Forensic Sciences.

James Malcolm Cameron (1930 – 14 June 2003) was a British forensic pathologist. [1] Cameron was born in Swansea and attended Glasgow High School and was often known as "Taffy" due to his Welsh background.
Dawson was a council member of the Institute of Professional Soil Scientists (2009-2013) and was a member of the Science and Technology Facilities Council, Science in Society panel (2007-2011). Dawson has developed techniques on soil organo-mineral markers in forensic investigations with police authorities and European research collaborators.
To Gallop's dismay, the UK government closed the FSS in 2012 to save funds. According to Irish forensic scientist Niamh Nic Daéid, "some people in the business" blame Gallop for the demise of the FSS because she started a competing commercial alternative to it, but she thinks such conclusions are "a bit unfair".
