Montaña de Oro ("Mountain of Gold" in Spanish) is a state park in Central Coastal California, six miles southwest of Morro Bay and two miles south of Los Osos.. It consists of 8,000 acres (32 km 2) of cliffs, seven miles of shoreline, [1] sandy beaches, dunes, coastal plains, streams, canyons, and hills, including the 1,347-foot (411 m) Valencia Peak.
The park and lake support outdoor recreation such as camping, picnicking, horseback riding, hiking, sail and power-boating, water-skiing, fishing, swimming, boat-in camping, floating campsites, and horse camping. [3] There is a visitor center with interpretive exhibits and a 47-foot (14 m) observation tower overlooking the lake and dam. [4]

Austin Creek is accessed through the same entrance as Armstrong Redwoods and its rolling hills, open grasslands, conifers, and oaks are a contrast to the dense canopy of the redwood grove.
