This is a partial list of IC objects, which are astronomical objects included in the Index Catalogue of Nebulae and Clusters of Stars. This two volume catalog was published in 1895 and 1908 by J. E. The NGC contains 7,840 objects, including galaxies, star clusters and emission nebulae. Dreyer published two supplements to the NGC in 1895 and 1908, known as the Index Catalogues (abbreviated IC), describing a further 5,386 astronomical objects. Thousands of these objects are best known by their NGC or IC numbers, which remain in widespread use.

[1] [2] Moore compiled a list of 109 objects to match the commonly accepted number of Messier objects (he excluded M110 [3]), and the list was published in Sky & Telescope in December 1995. [ 3 ] Moore used his other surname – Caldwell – to name the list, since the initial of "Moore" is already used for the Messier catalogue.
