Steve Borden (born March 20, 1959), better known by the ring name Sting, is an American retired professional wrestler. He is signed to All Elite Wrestling (AEW), where he continues to make sporadic appearances since his retirement.
Steve Borden and Jim Hellwig originally teamed as part of Powerteam USA, a group of four wrestlers who debuted in 1985 after being trained by Red Bastien and Rick Bassman. In addition to Borden and Hellwig, the group consisted of Garland Donoho and Mark Miller. [1] The team was managed by Bassman as they tried to break into the wrestling business.
Hellwig and fellow trainee Steve Borden (who later had success as "Sting") formed a tag team called The Freedom Fighters (Hellwig was known as Justice and Borden was called Flash). The Freedom Fighters debuted in the Memphis, Tennessee-based Continental Wrestling Association (CWA) promotion, run by Jerry Jarrett , in November 1985.
