The Hellenic Police (Greek: Ελληνική Αστυνομία, Ellinikí Astynomía, abbreviated ΕΛ.ΑΣ.) is the national police service and one of the three security forces of Greece. It is a large agency with responsibilities ranging from road traffic control to counter-terrorism .
The EKAM force is based in Athens, but several detachments are spread throughout Greece's major cities. Each officer is a full-time member who must have at least five years on the force before being allowed to try out.
