Due to its location to Cedar Lake, the town became known as Cedar Falls and by 1909 was host to a grocery, hotel, and schoolhouse. [2] Seattle City Light began operations in the community to provide power to Seattle with the build of a dam outside the town in 1912 on the Cedar River.
A 20-room hotel was built overlooking the lake, along with a church and a community meeting hall. The dock was used to ship lumber and dairy products on the lake. [1] During the height of the prohibition era, the town was raided by King County Sheriff officers looking for bootleggers. 50 gallons of moonshine whiskey were reportedly confiscated. [1]
