The Goombungee War Memorial was unveiled on 11 December 1920 by Major General Sir Thomas William Glasgow, [2] [3] and Brigadier-General James Campbell Robertson [4] CB, CMG, DSO, MID (x7) represented the Toowoomba sub-branch of the R.S.S.I.L.A. [2] It was designed by Henry James (Harry) Marks and produced by masons R C Ziegler and Son of the Downs Electric Monumental Works.

Haden Branch Railway was a branch railway line from Kingsthorpe to Goombungee and Haden in the Darling Downs, Queensland, Australia. [1] Kingsthorpe is about twenty kilometres from Toowoomba on the Western railway line. The Queensland Parliament approved a 33-kilometre (21 mi) branch line north to Goombungee and Haden in December 1908.
In 1977, as part of the creation of the Uniting Church in Australia, the East Lynne Methodist congregation merged with the Goombungee Congregational Church to form the Goombungee Uniting Church (which closed on 26 August 2012). [11] [12] The East Lynne Methodist Church no longer exists.
The Warrego Highway forms the northern boundary of the locality while Dry Creek forms the southern boundary. The lower of the two peaks of Gowrie Mountain (630 metres above sea level) is in the far east of the locality while the higher peak (674 metres above sea level) is in the neighbouring locality of Charlton.
