[1] The latter and Greater Houston area are both home to numerous regional shopping malls and shopping centers located in various areas of the city.

Mall of America (MoA) is a large shopping mall located in Bloomington, Minnesota. Located within the Minneapolis–Saint Paul metropolitan area, the mall lies southeast of the junction of Interstate 494 and Minnesota State Highway 77 , north of the Minnesota River , and across the Interstate from the Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport .
In June 1977, Melvin Simon & Associates announced the development of a shopping mall on a 104-acre (42 ha) tract of land along Texas State Highway Loop 360 in southwest Austin. Initial plans called for over 1 million sq ft (93,000 m 2 ) of retail space and parking capacity for nearly 6,000 cars, which would make the mall the largest in Austin.
