Dr. Godwin Akpan Amaowoh was born in Mbiabong Ikon No 1, Ikono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State.He obtained a National Certificate in Education (NCE) in Geography and History from the College of Education, Uyo, before earning a Diploma in Theology from the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary, Uyo.
He is currently the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Akwa Ibom State. He is a public relations executive, a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Mediator and Conciliators, and a member of several other professional bodies including Nigerian Bar Association, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, etc.
In the 9 March 2019 Akwa Ibom State gubernatorial election Emmanuel was re-elected as Governor of Akwa Ibom State defeating 44 other candidates in the election. He polled 519,712 votes as against that of his closest rival Nsima Ekere of the All Progressive Congress party who had 171,978 votes. [ 9 ]
