Tree of Life Congregation was formed in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in 1864 as a breakaway group from Rodef Shalom, an Orthodox synagogue founded in 1854 which began adopting Reform practices following the visit of Rabbi Isaac Mayer Wise to the city. Beth Or was established in 1955 in Mount Airy. [1] [2] In 1974, the congregation moved to Spring House, [3] until relocating in 2006 to its current home in Maple Glen.
