Donald Ray Sechrest (February 16, 1933 – January 20, 2006) was an American designer of more than 90 golf courses mostly in the Midwest.. Sechrest was born in St. Joseph, Missouri, where he attended Christian Brothers High School.
The club's facilities include golf, tennis, padel, squash, swimming, exercise facilities, massage, casual and fine dining, and event space for larger gatherings. In May 2000, the club built a Rees Jones -designed 18-hole championship golf course and executive par-3 course several miles from the main clubhouse on Camp Creek Parkway.
The St. Joe Company, which is headquartered in PCB, opened Camp Creek Inn in South Walton. This marks the company's fifth hotel to open in 2023.

With the construction of the Mashantucket Pequot Casino in 1991–1992, the camp's surroundings had been changed enough that the Long Rivers Council decided to sell the property to the Native American tribe in 1992. Karsten Creek was opened on May 9, 1994, and earned the distinction of "Best New Public Course for 1994" by Golf Digest and has earned numerous accolades since. Golf Digest honored Karsten Creek again in 1998, this time awarding the course its first five-star rating, giving Karsten Creek the distinction of being among only ten courses in the United States to earn such an honor.
