Vermont is the safest state in the United States, according to a new report from WalletHub.The ranking is based on 53 different indicators ranging from unemployment rates to assaults per capita.
Vermont led the list and Louisiana brought up the rear.
The "First State" was ranked the 20th safest state by WalletHub and had a mid-tier volunteer rate of 31.8%. Per the Census' 2022 ACS five-year estimates, 12.6% of women and 9.2% of men are divorced.
