The Town of Fraser is a Statutory Town located in Grand County, Colorado, United States. [1] The town population was 1,400 at the 2020 United States Census, a +14.38% increase since the 2010 United States Census. [4] The town is situated in Middle Park in the valley of the Fraser River along U.S. Highway 40.
The Fraser River is a tributary of the Colorado River, approximately 32.5 miles (52.3 km) long, [2] in north central Colorado in the United States.It drains a large portion of the Middle Park basin in Grand County in the Rocky Mountains west of Boulder and southwest of Rocky Mountain National Park.
The creek rises near Saint Louis Peak in the Arapaho National Forest.From there, it flows generally north northeastward, passing through the Fraser Experimental Forest and then Fraser itself until it reaches its confluence with the Fraser River on the east side of Highway 40 just south of Grand County Road 8 in Fraser.
In 2018 Winter Park Resort was named "Best ski resort in North America" as voted by the readers of USA Today. [13] In 2019 Winter Park Resort was named "Number 1 Ski Resort in North America". [14] Winter Park hosted the NCAA Skiing Championships in 1956, 1959, 1972, and 1977. The team title went to Denver in 1956 and Colorado took the latter three.
