Fonda Speedway is a half-mile (0.8 km) dirt oval track located in Fonda, New York. The track hosted NASCAR Cup Series races in 1955 and 1966 to 1968. It is home to the Fonda 200. The track hosts Saturday night races with Modified, Sportsman, Limited Sportsman, Pro Stock, and 4 Cylinder classes (as of 2021). [1]
In 1958, Muldowney made her debut on the dragstrip of the Fonda Speedway. She obtained her NHRA pro license in 1965. She competed in the 1969 and 1970 U.S. Nationals in a twin-engined dragster in Top Gas. [2] [6] With Top Gas losing popularity, Muldowney switched to Funny Car, buying her first car from Connie Kalitta. [6]
Peter "Pete" Corey (October 5, 1929 – August 4, 2000) was a driver of modified stock cars. One of the most popular drivers at Fonda Speedway NY, he claimed the track championship in 1957, 1965, and 1966, and had a total of 50 wins at the venue during his career.
After discharge from the Army in 1966, Jack began his Modified career at the Fonda Speedway (New York), where he went on to win 11 track championships.
