The grounds where the new settlement was founded were donated by Sergeant Major Juan Antonio Trasviña y Retes and Nueva Vizcaya governor Manuel de San Juan y Santa Cruz. The settlement received the epithet of Tapacolmes by the Indians that Trasviña y Retes brought from the Ojinaga region to populate the settlement.
Guerrero is one of the 67 municipalities of Chihuahua, in northern Mexico. The municipal seat lies at Vicente Guerrero (aka Ciudad Guerrero). The municipality covers an area of 5,603.6 km 2. As of 2010, the municipality had a total population of 39,626, [1] up from 37,249 as of 2005. [2]
Carrizal is a rural community located in Ahumada Municipality, Chihuahua, Mexico. It had a population of 102 inhabitants at the 2010 census, [6] and is situated at an elevation of 1,120 meters above sea level. Carrizal was founded November 26, 1772 as a Jesuit mission named San Fernando de las Amarillas del Carrizal. [7]
