Lake of Three Fires State Park is a 1,155-acre (467 ha) state park in Taylor County, Iowa, United States, located 4.3 miles northeast of the city center of Bedford. The park is centered on the eponymous 85-acre (34 ha) Lake of Three Fires. It was established in 1935 and named for a Potawatomi group that once lived there.
All three sections were originally kept as state highways, but, in 1991, when Iowa DOT first showed the new state highways' designations on the state highway map, the central section already had been turned over to Polk and Jasper counties. The western segment was numbered Iowa 925 and the eastern segment Iowa 927. [41]
The park was developed at the same time as Bedford's first municipal cemetery, which is located directly to the north of the park. Today, the cemetery is no longer used as a major burial ground for the town. The park however is still very much in use. The general Victorian design of Bedford Park has been maintained to this day.
