The event's date would remain on the NHRA national event schedule until 1992. In 1993, the event was renamed the NHRA Mopar Parts Nationals and moved to May to take advantage of the cooler weather in NJ during that time of the year. In 2000, the event was again renamed Matco Tools Spring Supernationals and was moved to the month of June.
Within a few years, the Carlisle Fairgrounds had become a mecca for collector car enthusiasts all over the world. The runaway success of what became known as Fall Carlisle Collector Car Swap Meet & Car Corral led to a similar Spring event in 1977. In short order, they became complete sellouts for vendor and car sale (or "car corral") spaces.
1996 –In the first Pro Stock Bike race at the NHRA Nationals, Angelle Sampey sets a national record with a pass of 7.373 seconds. 1997 – MGR celebrates 35th anniversary. 1999 – Lighting is improved in shutdown area. 2001 – Because of Sept. 11 attacks, NHRA Nationals are moved to October. 2002 – MGR celebrates 40th anniversary.

It is considered to be the NSS Nationals, with as many as 90 Nostalgia Super Stock cars competing. The event originally began as the NSS Racing class of the Monster Mopar Weekend back in 1990, and was administered by Dave Duell, who was a Super Stock racer (and then Chrysler/Plymouth dealer) back in the 60s.
Grand Bend Motorplex is a dedicated multi-use motorsports facility located southeast of Grand Bend, Ontario, Canada.
