The project's second album The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most (2001), [1] released through independent label Vagrant Records, [2] featured a full band on a few of the songs. [1] The album become Vagrant's best-selling release. [2]
The album, according to Rock Sound, gave Dashboard Confessional "a ton of worldwide exposure." [53] This resulted in Carrabba becoming "the poster boy for the emo resurgence of the early 2000s" and the album "defin[ing] an entire movement." [53] Rock Sound later ranked it at number 38 on the list of best albums in their lifetime. [54]
