Kent State University College of Podiatric Medicine (KSUCPM), is the graduate podiatric medical school of Kent State University (KSU). The Kent State University College of Public Health was established in 2009. It is one of only two colleges of public health in Ohio, and it is the first school in the state to offer a Bachelor of Science in Public Health. Its goal is to train students to meet the current and projected shortage of public health professionals across the nation.
Bill Doane received his Ph.D. in Physics from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1965; he became a member of the Kent State University faculty the same year. In 1983 he became Director of the Liquid Crystal Institute and in 1991 the ALCOM Center's first director, serving in both capacities until his retirement from the University in 1996.
