William Rainey Harper College is a public community college in Palatine, Illinois. It was established by referendum in 1965 and opened in September 1967. It is named for William Rainey Harper , a pioneer in the junior college movement in the United States and the first president of the University of Chicago .

WHCM (88.3 FM) is a student-run campus radio station at William Rainey Harper College in Palatine, Illinois. Harper was born on July 24, 1856, in New Concord, [Note 1] to parents of Irish-Scottish ancestry. [2] Very early in his life, Harper displayed skills years ahead of other children of his age, and he was labeled a child prodigy. By the age of eight, Harper began preparing for college-level courses.
1930 Western Union Telegram: Millsaps College beats Mississippi State University (then Mississippi A&M) in football, 19–13. Millsaps fielded its first intercollegiate football team in 1920. From 1920 to 1963 the Majors accumulated a 131–174–30 record over 40 seasons (no team was fielded in 1942, 1943 or 1945).
