Major Minnesota news outlets published lists of House districts that were expected to be competitive in 2024 based on past results and campaign spending. The Minnesota Star Tribune considered 15 races competitive, MPR News listed 14 as districts to watch, MinnPost and the Minnesota Reformer both cited 16 districts.
The 1st district stretches across southern Minnesota from its borders with South Dakota to Wisconsin, and includes the cities of Rochester, Mankato, Winona, Austin, Owatonna, Albert Lea, New Ulm, and Worthington. The incumbent was Republican Brad Finstad, who was re-elected with 53.8% of the vote in 2022. [2]
Minnesota's 2nd congressional district covers the south Twin Cities metro area and contains all of Scott, Dakota, and Le Sueur counties. It also contains part of northern and eastern Rice County including the city of Northfield , as well as southern Washington County including the city of Cottage Grove .

The 7th district covers all but the southern end of rural western Minnesota, and includes the cities of Moorhead, Willmar, Alexandria, and Fergus Falls. The incumbent was Republican Michelle Fischbach , who flipped the district and was elected with 53.4% of the vote in 2020 , ousting long-time Democratic incumbent Collin Peterson .
