Health coaching is the use of evidence-based skillful conversation, clinical interventions and strategies to actively and safely engage client/patients in health behavior change. Health coaches are certified or credentialed to safely guide clients and patients who may have chronic conditions or those at moderate to high risk for chronic conditions.

In early 2018, UHI awarded the Institute of Health Science and Innovation an Institution status in recognition of the scale and success of the pre-existing cluster of health research. The Institute includes representatives from around the UHI collaboration, but most of them are located at the Inverness Centre for Health Science.
The facility is a 234-bed healthcare campus that provides mental health and learning disability accommodation. [1] New Craigs, which replaced Craig Dunain Hospital and Craig Phadrig Hospital both of which were both located nearby, opened in July 2000. [3]
In 2005, the National Holistic Institute opened campuses in San Jose, CA, and Petaluma, CA. [2] In 2006, NHI opened a campus in the San Fernando Valley of Los Angeles (Encino, CA) by acquiring the Touch Therapy Institute. In 2007, NHI opened a campus in San Francisco, California and one in Sacramento, California in 2011. [3]
