Route 139 is a 32.24-mile-long (51.89 km) west–east state highway in southeastern Massachusetts. Its western terminus is at Route 27 and Route 138 in Stoughton and its eastern terminus is at Route 14 in Duxbury. Along the way it intersects several major highways including Route 24 in Stoughton and Route 3 in Pembroke.

The $315-million (equivalent to $421 million in 2023 [8]) MassDOT Highway Division project widened the 14.3-mile (23.0 km), six-lane section of highway to eight lanes from north of Route 9 in Wellesley to Route 24 in Randolph. The project consisted of adding a lane on the inside of each carriageway, complete with a 10-foot (3.0 m) inside shoulder.
Stoughton station is an MBTA Commuter Rail station in downtown Stoughton, Massachusetts. It is the current terminus of the Stoughton Branch of the Providence/Stoughton Line. The station has a parking lot to serve local riders and those driving from further south, as Stoughton is close to the Massachusetts Route 24 expressway.
