Dark Lucifer (ダークルシフェル, Dāku Rushiferu) is the final Dark Giant of the ULTRA N PROJECT, who appeared in Dreams, a novel bundled with the DVD release of Ultraman Nexus in 2012. Masquerading as a retired Memory Police officer, Lucifer begins erasing his targets of their memories being attacked by Space Beasts.
Ultraman Nexus was part of Tsuburaya Productions' Ultra N Project, an experiment in 2004 to re-invent Ultraman for a new generation of fans. Prior to this, however, Tsuburaya had begun a project called Ultra Collaboration 2 at the end of 2003, which involved a brand-new radio adaptation of Ultra Q called The Ultra Q Club.

As the force of evil reaches the Land of Light in Nebula M78, the record of the New Generation Ultraman became lost. The Dimensionizer (ディメンションナイザー, Dimenshon'naizā) is entrusted to Ultraman Zero, alongside the message which directs him to regain the lost Star Chronicles (スター列伝, Sutā Retsuden) and the bonds with the New Generation Ultras.
Ultraman Trigger was announced by Tsuburaya Productions on April 15, 2021. According to director Koichi Sakamoto, the series is intended to be Ultraman Tiga recreated in the modern day interpretation for the current generation of audience to enjoy, in addition to those grew up watching Tiga.
