    Just yesterday I picked up a Clearwater "Frequent Flyer" 8wt 7-piece rod and have to say that it is a pretty decent rod for a niche rod. I was able to cast about 90' with it in the parking lot, and Brian at the Portland Orvis store, who was helping me, was casting the entire 105' line.
