The tenure of sixteenth Odisha Legislative Assembly was scheduled to end on 24 June 2024. [1] The previous assembly elections were held in April 2019. After the elections, Biju Janata Dal (BJD) formed the state government, with the then incumbent Naveen Patnaik continuing as the Chief Minister.
The government was formed as a result of BJP securing 78 seats of 147 in 2024 Odisha Legislative Assembly election which was held in four phases during May and June in the state. The results were declared on 4 June and this led to formation of 17th Odisha Assembly. [2] This government is also supported by 3 independents.

She is also the Minister of Women and Child Development, Mission Shakti, and Tourism. She is an MLA from Nimapara Assembly Constituency in Puri District representing Bharatiya Janata Party.
