Tolland County (/ ˈ t ɑː l ə n d / TAH-lənd) is a county in the northeastern part of the U.S. state of Connecticut.As of the 2020 census, its population was 149,788. [1] It is incorporated into 13 towns and was originally formed on October 13, 1785, from portions of eastern Hartford County and western Windham County.
It was separately incorporated out of Enfield in 1734, with jurisdiction transferred to the Connecticut Colony in 1749. The town has been primarily agricultural for much of its history, although there was a mill village at Somersville. The town flourished first with fruit production and then with tobacco and dairy production in the 19th century.
