Kalamurina borders on the north coast of Lake Eyre North and contains a large proportion of the Lake Eyre catchment. Its habitats include dunefields, gibber plains, desert woodlands, freshwater and saline lakes, and riparian habitats along the three important desert waterways that converge on the property [1] the Warburton and Macumba Rivers and Kallakoopah Creek.
Lake Eyre is a locality in the Australian state of South Australia located about 718 kilometres (446 miles) north of the state capital of Adelaide and 134 kilometres (83 miles) north of the town of Marree and which is associated with the occasional body of water known as Lake Eyre.
The river rises at the base of Macumba Hill and where the Alberga River joins with Hamilton and Currallulla creeks, it then flows in a south easterly direction entering the Kalamurina Sanctuary and eventually discharges into the Warburton River near the north eastern side of Lake Eyre.
