The governor of Curaçao (Dutch: gouverneur van Curaçao; Papiamento: gobernador di Kòrsou) is the representative on Curaçao of the Dutch head of state (King Willem-Alexander). The governor's duties are twofold: representing and guarding the general interests of the Kingdom and heading the government of Curaçao.
By acceding to the function of governor of Curaçao, George-Wout replaced Frits Goedgedrag, who left the office in November 2012 because of health problems. His functions had been temporarily performed by acting governor Adèle van der Pluijm-Vrede .
