The 2021–22 EFL Championship (referred to as the Sky Bet Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 6th season of the EFL Championship under its current title and the 30th season under its current league division format.
The 2022–23 EFL Championship (referred to as the Sky Bet Championship for sponsorship reasons) was the 7th season of the EFL Championship under its current title and the 31st season under its current league division format. The season started on 29 July 2022 and ended on 8 May 2023.
On 6 May 2023, Sky Sports agreed a new five-year EFL deal from 2024–25 to 2028–29 for over 1,000 matches, including 328 Championship, 248 League One, 248 League Two, all 15 play-off, all 93 Carabao Cup and all 127 EFL Trophy matches respectively.
The play-offs began in each league with two semi-finals which were played over two legs. The teams who finished in 3rd to 6th place in the Championship and League One and the 4th to 7th-placed teams in League Two competed.
