Originally Matco was the box manufacturing division of Mac Tools. However, they have not been associated with Mac since Matco Tools was formed in 1979. Former corporate owner Danaher spun off several subsidiaries, including Matco, in 2016 to create Fortive. [4] Fortive, in turn, spun off Matco and other brands as Vontier in 2020. [5]
Mac Tools USA hardline tools are manufactured in their partner plant of Proto Dallas. Their primary distribution center is located in Hilliard, Ohio, United States. Mac Tools business model is a franchise system with roughly 1500 distributors across North America. Their primary competitors include Matco, Snap-on, and Cornwell Tools.
In 1966 the career and technical education division was formed and nursing programs were then added in 1967. The current main campus outside of Leadington, MO was purchased in 1967 and operations moved to the larger campus in 1970. The college grew throughout the 80s and 90s, adding more buildings and programs to better meet the needs of the area.
