Pere Marquette State Park was not acquired until May 1932. Known then as Piasa Bluff State Park, the 1,511-acre (611 ha) park was the largest in Illinois at the time. In 1933 the state park system's development picked up. Under the governorship of Henry Horner the lodge projects at the state parks began.
The Johnny Sack Cabin, at Big Springs, Idaho near Island Park, is a log bungalow built in 1932–34. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979. [1]It is a very well-made bungalow, about 20 by 27 feet (6.1 m × 8.2 m) in plan, with porches as extensions.
It is part of the Illinois State Park Lodges and Cabins Thematic Resources. The park was established in 1927 and the lodge was built in 1934 as a project of the Civilian Conservation Corps . [ 1 ] The museum itself opened in the lodge in 1939 [ 2 ] with a collection started by Dr. John Hauberg, a Rock Island philanthropist.
The Illinois state park system began in 1908 with what is now Fort Massac State Park, in the U.S. state of Illinois, becoming the first park in a system encompassing over 60 parks and about the same number of recreational and wildlife areas.
The Bishop Mountain Lookout, located in Island Park, Idaho, was created between 1936 and 1938 by the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) in the Caribou-Targhee National Forest. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986, and its cabin is currently available as reserved accommodations through the United States Forest Service.
Rock Cut State Park is a state park of the U.S. state of Illinois. Located near Rockford in Winnebago County , it covers 3,254 acres (1,317 ha), [ 1 ] enveloping Pierce Lake and Olson Lake . Rock Cut Park's main entrance is located on Highway 173 , 1 mile west of Interstate 90 .
