Thilmany Papers paper mill operations were located in Kaukauna and De Pere, Wisconsin. Thilmany Papers is now a part of Ahlstrom Munksjö, [1] which also owns paper mills in Rhinelander, Wisconsin, De Pere, Wisconsin, and Mosinee, Wisconsin. Oscar Thilmany (the company's namesake) opened the Kaukauna mill in 1883. [2]
In 2005, New York-based equity firm Kohlberg & Company bought the mill, changed the name back to Thilmany, and created a company of the same name. It is now owned by KPS Capital Partners, and was renamed Expera Specialty Solutions in 2013. In 2018, it was sold to Ahlstrom-Munksjo.

Antti Ahlström (7 November 1827 – 10 May 1896) was a Finnish businessman, who founded Ahlstrom-Munksjö. He was one of Finland's influential and wealthy 19th-century businessman. In addition, Ahlström was an industrialist, ship owner , patron , commercial counselor and legislator.
They are known for being the founding family behind the Ahlstrom Corporation and for their cooperation with Alvar Aalto. Jussi Ahlström, the son of a Swedish allotment soldier and the ancestor of the Ahlström family, was from Naistenmatka , the village of Pirkkala .
