The 2024–25 season is Oțelul Galați's 29th season in Liga I, and the second consecutive season since last winning promotion at the end of the 2022–23 Liga II season. In addition to the Superliga, Oțelul will participate in this season's edition of Cupa României .
Oțelul ended the previous season by winning promotion to the Liga I after placing 3rd in the Liga II Play-offs. The preparation for the new season started in early June in Galati, followed by a training camp in Vatra Dornei between 10th and 18 June, followed by a series of friendlies during a camp in Mönichkirchen, between 25 of June and July 6.
In the Cupa României, Oțelul's best result is reaching the final twice, in 2004 and 2024. Internationally, the team's best performances are qualifying for the group stages of the 2011–12 UEFA Champions League and being one of the eleven co-winners of the 2007 UEFA Intertoto Cup .
The 2024–25 Liga I, known officially as the SuperLiga Romania, is the 107th season of Liga I, the top football league in Romania. The season will start on 12 July 2024. [ 1 ] The newcomers are Unirea Slobozia who are making their debut in Liga I and Gloria Buzău who returned to Liga I after a 15-year absence.
