New Bern National Cemetery is a United States National Cemetery located in the city of New Bern, in Craven County, North Carolina. Administered by the United States Department of Veterans Affairs, it encompasses 7.7 acres (3.1 ha), and as of the end of 2005, had 7,517 interments. It is currently closed to new interments.
The Department of Military and Veterans Affairs was created by the Executive Organization Act of 1971. It was abolished in 1977. [3] In his 2015 state of the state address, Governor Pat McCrory declared it his goal to reestablish the department.

The New Bern District Brigade was an administrative division of the North Carolina militia during the American Revolutionary War (1776–1783). This unit was established by the North Carolina Provincial Congress on May 4, 1776, and disbanded at the end of the war.
