Ilya Yefimovich Repin [a] (5 August [O.S. 24 July] 1844 – 29 September 1930) was a Russian painter who was born in what is now Ukraine. [1] [4] [5] [6] [b] He became one of the most renowned artists in Russia in the 19th century.
