John M. Mason, MBE (21 January 1940 – 22 January 2011) was a Scottish solicitor, musician, composer and conductor. He was the co-founder, musical director, and conductor of the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra from its creation in 1980 until his death in 2011.

Hector MacAndrew (1903–1980) was a musician, composer and Scottish fiddler during the second half of the 20th century. He was born in 1903, in a cottage on the Fyvie Castle Estate in Aberdeenshire, where his father was head gardener and piper to Lord Leith. [ 1 ]

Aberdeen Music Hall was the scene of a suffragette activist incident in December 1907, [5] when protesters disrupted a visit from the then Chancellor of the Exchequer, Henry Asquith. [6] This resulted in a fight in the orchestra pit and the suffragettes being thrown out.
