Kōtarō Bokuto (木兎 光太郎, Bokuto Kōtarō) is a third-year student at Fukurodani Academy and captain and ace of the volleyball team. He is one of Japan's top 5 aces, only barely missing being in the top 3. Bokuto is an enthusiastic and cheerful person who is very passionate about volleyball.
With Bokuto in his dejected mode, Karasuno learns from first-hand experience why Fukurodani has one of the top volleyball teams in Tokyo. Fukurodani ends up winning the match, with Bokuto scoring the final point. The training camp comes to an end with a barbecue for the players.
Nekoma wins their first match at Nationals and is also moving onto the second round. Meanwhile, Fukurōdani is just starting their first match against Eiwa and Bokuto is already in his "dejected mode". However, the team is well-adapted and once Bokuto regains his composure, he leads Fukurōdani to an overwhelming victory over Eiwa.
