Bahauddin Zakariya University (BZU) (Urdu: جامعۂ بہاءالدین زکریا) is a public university with its main campus located in Multan, Punjab, Pakistan. Bahauddin Zakariya University was founded in 1975 as Multan University , and is the 2nd largest university in Punjab following University of the Punjab .
The institute was offering 3-years diploma in textile for providing skilled workforce to the industry. In 2004, the status of the institute was elevated to an engineering college by handing it over to Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan. [4] Before the takeover, there was no institute in southern Punjab that offered a textile engineering degree.

The institute was established in 1985 and initially affiliated with Bahauddin Zakariya University, Multan. In 2012, it got its own charter and Malik Akhtar Ali Kalrou is appointed as the first vice-chancellor. [2]
